We generally love our new 2023 Ascent however there seems to be a glitch in the forward collision avoidance feature. This is truly a mystery.
Here is the scenario. There is a small stretch of highway (2 lane) where our car, without warning, brakes hard as if something is in our path. It happens in exactly the same spot in the road, only on the South bound side, only when using the cruise control. The other day I took great care to look at the surroundings in that area to try to determine if something on the side of the road was causing the reaction. The only thing is a bus waiting enclosure that would be out of the ordinary. This spot in the road is also a controlled intersection so I thought maybe a stopped car beyond the stop line? Nope, it braked like banshee almost causing the cars behind me to rear end us. Thankfully the road speed is 35 and they were able to brake too. Read something about having the “eyesight” calibrated?
Anyone have any clues?
