Drove Matagorda Beach almost to 3 Mile with no issues in my stock 23 Limited XT loaded with the wife, kid, dog and plenty beach gear. I did do a lot of research on the forums and YouTube, checked the weather, tides, aired down to about 18-20 psi. I also turned off VSC and as many eyesight assists as i could. Sand was deep, soft and rutted on the way out and i did pass two large pickup trucks stuck up to their axles. As I have read on these very forums, the Outback indeed floated over the deep soft stuff and through and across ruts. On the way back tide was receding and the sand was much harder and there were minivans and various suvs and sedans out there. This forum has been a great resource and i just wanted to contribute a very recent experience for anyone thinking about taking their Outback on the beach or sand… it can be done with the proper research and preparation.
