So they have some transit tours in Green with Java underwear, my favorite combination. Total msrp is just under $51k ($1500 under MSRP) and they offered $37k for my trade. I told them we might be interested, sharpen their pencils, put it all in writing and we’ll talk. Maybe they’ll tighten it, maybe not.
I asked if they would do VIP and I said they would, but only for inventory or transit.
In my head we have $12,500 out of pocket, but since I was willing to spend $1500-2000 on the 20s warranty extension, we’re at $10,500 + the $10,500 loan balance, so actually $21,000 dollars to get into a new car that is exactly the same as my current car, but with a full warranty again.
I know my cost of ownership per mile is ridiculously high due to my low miles, but moving forward 3 years in technology and depreciation seems to make sense. I’ve never thrown a car before taking the wheels off it. This seems to make some sense, while sounding crazy to a penny pincher like me.
Thoughts?
PS, I’m tempted to go to the Mazda dealer across the street to check out the CX-90. I know it’s more expensive and first year production, but I’ve been a Mazda owner for a long time. Since April of ’23, it’s been the first time in 40 years that I haven’t owned a Mazda.
