Alleged oil leak with no visible leak

Hi,

I have a 2018 Outback with 46,000 miles. I went to a local Jiffy Lube for the first time last week because it was near my home and convenient. I was about 1,000 miles overdue for an oil change, but I had checked my oil, and the dipstick reading was fine. I went for the oil change anyway. The guy told me I had a seal that needed to be replaced, and that it was causing a “major oil leak,” but that I wasn’t seeing anything because the oil was drying and caking around the seal. I asked why it was called a “major” leak, and he said that’s just what they call a leak when the seal needs to be replaced. …Sounded like they were trying to scare a customer into getting more work done, but I’m not sure.

I’m a little skeptical, because even being overdue, my dipstick was fine, and I don’t see or smell any evidence of oil loss. Should I bring my car back to my regular mechanic and get a second opinion, or just wait?
