23 Wilderness Oil Leak at Plug

Likely coming from the oil plug gasket.

Things to consider:

  • How long has it been leaking since the last oil change?
  • Who changed the oil?
  • If it’s you, did you use the appropriate crush washer and did you make sure to remove the previous washer (sometimes these are stuck )? Did you torque it sufficiently (without over-torquing it, which will damage the threads and will require an oil pan change or some sort of thread repair kit).
  • If it’s not you, in addition to above notes, maybe they over-torqued the drain plug and damaged the threads (had that happen to me a LONG time ago)

Simplest solution is to just remove the plug (obviously will have the drain the oil) and check/clean everything.
If you’re using the older 14 mm plug, you can consider replacing it with the new design (17 mm).
