23 New OB – totally confused by CarPlay / Starlink / Bluetooth / SiriusXM ‘interconnection’

First, thanks to @DanielAcosta (a fellow Premium level owner) and @binary visions for their explanations in Posts #4 and #6.

No, THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE who contributed.

I agree it is very confusing and you really need to read up on every Starlink service, feature or option. Some of the manuals they make seem like it’s all one thing, when really there are many aspects to it. I may have over read between the lines initially as I misunderstood what each level is. I have a KEYED 2021 Premium. I have Security and Security Plus NOW. LOL, since when I first read it seems to read like most services were not available unless you had a flash FOB. So I didn’t sign up for it. I had the ceiling button from day 1 though.

Then I was at the dealer for my first oil change and the car guy locked my key in the car. Of course I didn’t have the remote unlock feature. Fortunately, I asked my wife to bring me the spare key. The service advisor said the open remote was available for my car. That night I re-read the literature and finally called Starlink, clarified that the only thing I wouldn’t get in that package was remote start, and then activated the Safety and Security level. You get open and remote remote location, along with other anti-theft and immobilization/deployment features.

I don’t use the Starlink app on my phone, plus the Starlink icon on the screen says I don’t have any accounts linked. I have the My Subaru app on my phone and it does all the safety and security level stuff like remote unlocking etc, again all EXCEPT remote start.

I was able to move my SriusXM from the old machine, but it had to be set to auto-restart AFTER the trial period. The account was restarted but I had to send a code for it to be reactivated under the Subaru Outback. In fact, the SiriusXM transfer was much easier than I expected, and I had minimal wait time.
