I had the same issue on both left and right front struts on my 2020 Ascent. It happened first on the right side. Dealer said they could reproduce it so I asked the tech to ride with me. I drove slow over a speed bump until they could hear it. It doesn’t seem to be as noticeable at speeds over 10 mph. Both sides started clunking this year. They fixed the right side without issue in January, now the left side is clanking. Just got it diagnosed today, they ordered a strut and mount and will schedule the repair when the part comes in. They never balked at fixing it once I demonstrated how and when the noise most frequently occurs.
