This happened after I lost power on a cold night in October. I had my battery replaced in August at a local shop and then in September the Subaru dealer replaced my passenger side airbag. They claim they didn’t take the batter apart to replace the air bag, which I find suspect.
In October I used the cable to get a boost and the car started but then the warning lights came on.
For a week after that, I would get a clicking sound before the engine would start. When I checked the battery myself, I noticed that the negative terminal was very loose. I tightened it and the car starts without a problem – but the **** lights are still on.
My guess is that the connection loss is what caused the ABS problem, but I don’t know for sure who to turn to for a fix.
I took it to the local shop first and then to Subaru dealers and both found the same codes.
C0073 Abnormal output of side G sensor
C0071 Steering angle sensor malfunction
C0074 Material cylinder pressure sensor output
The local shop said they couldn’t go any further so they sent me to the dealership. The dealership ended up telling me I need an ABS Control Module $2,222 (CDN) parts and labor + tax.
When I searched online for the part, there was no such thing. It was either an ABS electronic control unit (ECU) or an ABS actuation pump module.
I called the dealer and the service department. still called it an ABS control module. So I talked to a Parts guy and he gave me the part numbers and prices of the items I found online.
ABS ECU 98221AJ07A $503
ABS Actuator Pump Module 27596AJ00A $1100
I still don’t know which one I need. I also read in a post that the negative (ground) may be corroded. Is this something I should pursue first?
