2007 Subaru Outback H6 3.0 Belt Noise

I haven’t used a mechanic for something like this in possibly ever, so I don’t know. The best I can say is most shops charge a minimum half hour for labor and labor rates are an average $100/hr. Some places such as PepBoys, Napa, JiffyLube, Minekie, etc. if you have them in your area may have a lesser flat fee for something like this.
Have you checked for the listed trusted mechanics yet?
@cardoc there is one
Possibly do a web search on how much a serpentine / accessory belt replacement might cost. Price the belt itself while you are at it.
Scratch most of that. I’m still stuck on you thinking it’s just the belt, which it is not. There will be a diagnostic fee, which is whatever the shop charges. That is usually a flat fee. Then there will be a separate repair fee, which is going to be dependant on what they find needs to be replaced.
Urgency is semi critical. If something that is supposed to be spinning stops, that belt will break, and you will be stuck where your engine shuts down when there is no more battery to run off of when the alternator isn’t giving power. It could happen tonight, It could take a month, but it will most likely happen. How soon depends on how long that motor is running.
