We loaded about 800 lbs of people and material into the OB and about another 1000 lbs into the trailer.
Observations: When fully loaded, the OB struggled on freeway junctions and up hills, much like a 1970 Dodge Dart. We drove 60-70 averaging about 22 mpg (about 10 mpg less than normal), with air conditioning most of the time. Air temperatures ranged from 70-90 degrees. RPM was mostly 2500-3000, with peaks approaching 4000 rpm going up steeper hills. Coolant temperature was about 5 degrees higher than normal (195 vs. 190) and exhaust temps were up to 100 degrees higher (up to about 1350 F)/ mileage deteriorated very quickly, dropping to about 1 mpg for every 1 mph increase. Most passed us all.
Braking was better than expected, with trailer drag somewhat compensating for the extra trailer momentum. It was quite smooth when loaded except over bumps. When unloaded, the trailer and hitch had a lot of squeaks, rattles, and noises.
Trailer rental was cheap, about $60 for 5 days including damage insurance. A trailer brake light failed due to a loose wire. The 4×8 is low ceiling height, making it more difficult to load with additional back strain. I still have some bruises from the sharp edges on the trailer door.
